At 7:36 p.m. a call went into 911 reporting a structure fire in the 200 block of Riverside Avenue in Sugarloaf, East of Big Bear City. A full response was requested from the Big Bear City Fire Department as well as other agencies who assisted.  Multiple units arrived on scene to find a single structure fully engulfed with flames coming from the rear of the house. Neighbors were using hoses to put water on the fire when the emergency crews arrived.

Firefighters were in full attack mode trying to knock down the flames. Bystanders at the scene reported that, “the resident was home earlier in the day and left his generator going inside the unit.” Debris and trash was found throughout the entire structure. The fire took firefighters approximately 20 minutes to knock it down. The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time. We would like to thank all of the responding agencies for such a quick response and for preventing the fire from spreading to nearby homes or vegetation.
