Car Stops on Lake Gregory Drive, Driver Tumbles Down Hillside into Crestline Neighborhood Below

At 12:22 a.m. on Friday, emergency crews were dispatched to reports of a solo vehicle traffic accident on the corner of Valle and Arbula Drives in the San Bernardino Mountain community of Crestline. San Bernardino County Fire crews along with Deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department met at the intersection.

According to statements from witnesses at the scene, a man had tumbled down the hillside from Lake Gregory Drive above. Residents in the neighborhood called 911 after being awoken by the man screaming for help. The man was taken to a local area hospital by Medic Ambulance 25. Deputies then went to find the vehicle on Lake Gregory Drive, below Highway 18.

Upon arrival, the deputies found the unattended vehicle with it’s lights on and windows down. It appeared to have rolled backwards and the passenger side rear of the vehicle was perched on the hillside leaving the driver side rear tire suspended a few inches in the air.

The California Highway Patrol arrived on scene just before 1:30 am. A tow truck was called to the scene to remove the vehicle.

According to an officer at the scene, “It’s a traffic hazard and to protect other motorists driving through, we’re going to have it removed so it doesn’t cause an accident and hurt someone.” The driver will be able to retrieve the vehicle once he is able.

Anybody who might have further information regarding this incident is encouraged to call the Running Springs office of the California Highway Patrol at (909) 867-2791. The extent and type of injuries suffered by the driver are unknown at this time.
