Motorcycle Rider Flown to Trauma Center after Double Traffic Collision

At 8:29 p.m. on Friday, June 7th, multiple callers into 911 dispatch reported a multi-vehicle traffic collison on Big Bear Boulevard and Maple Lane in Big Bear City.

Medics from Station 283 in Sugarloaf and 282 in Big Bear City arrived on scene to find multiple patients injured during the collision. One patient was transported by a Mercy Air H285 to a local trauma center. The other patient was transported by ground ambulance to Bear Valley Community Hospital.

Exact details are still sketchy but according to bystanders at the scene, a boat trailer being towed by a truck came unhitched as it was pulling into the Boulevard. The driver went to reattach the trailer. A motorcycle was traveling on Big Bear Boulevard. For unknown reasons, a collision occurred between the motorcycle and the boat. Suddenly, another vehicle allegedly crashed into the motorcycle rider.

The motorcycle rider suffered serious injuries sustained during the collisions. The driver of the vehicle that hit the motorcycle rider was arrested for suspected DUI.

The exact cause of the crash is under investigation by California Highway Patrol. The condition of the two patients transported is unknown at this time.
