At 11:04 am on 4/29/18, the California Highway Patrol received a report of a motorcycle accident on Highway 18. The accident was near lower Waterman Canyon Road.
Traffic was backed up in both directions with motorists walking on Highway 18.
Due to the fact that the accident occurred within San Bernardino police jurisdiction, the call was transferred to them at 11:05 a.m.
Upbound Highway 18 was closed with motorists being diverted through old Waterman Canyon.
In a statement issued by the San Bernardino Police department, the rider is in critical condition. He was heading downbound with another group of motorcyclists when the accident occurred. The SBPD would like to remind motorists and riders alike to be mindful of their speed, as speed was a likely factor in this accident.
