On July 4 multiple calls were received by 911 dispatchers reporting an accident involving a motorcycle and a white passenger vehicle. The location given to emergency dispatchers put the accident at the intersection of Highway 138 and Crest Forest Drive in the middle of the five-way intersection.

Based on evidence gathered at the scene, the white vehicle was traveling uphill, towards the five way intersection while the motorcycle was traveling down. For reasons unknown, a collision occurred between the white vehicle causing damage to both vehicles and injuring the rider.

San Bernardino County Firefighters were on scene within minutes. Crews from Medic Engine 25 directed traffic at the intersection until the CHP arrived. Medics from Medic Ambulance 25 assessed the victim’s injuries and transported him to a local area hospital.

Dons Towing was initially dispatched on a rotation basis by the California Highway Patrol. However, Big Bear Towing ended up towing the motorcycle under Auto Club membership.

The cause for the crash is unknown at this time and is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. As an unrelated Public Service message for the holiday, emergency crews and Law Enforcement Officers would like to remind everyone to not drink and drive this Fourth of July and to use caution on our mountain roadways.
