Man Crashes and Flees On Foot Running From Suspicious Vehicle

At 4:45 a.m. on Sunday, January 27th, a call went into 911 reporting a suspicious vehicle. The party stated he was being followed by the suspicious vehicle when he lost control of his own vehicle, and it left the roadway in an unknown location. He stated that he had been on his way home at the time, but after the accident he was reportedly still on foot, while he was on the phone with the dispatchers. He also stated that he had no idea where his vehicle was, only that it was in a field somewhere, and that he was also having some type of medical emergency.

Emergency crews from Station 282 in Big Bear City located the man on Big Bear Blvd., near Irving Way in Big Bear City. Medical Personnel on scene assessed the driver and he was not transported.

The California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino Sheriff Deputies arrived and helped the man search for his vehicle. Officials were finally able to locate the missing vehicle on Shay Road, near Old Shay Road in Shady Meadows, at the east end of the Big Bear Valley. The cause of the crash and the circumstances surrounding it are under investigation at this time by the CHP.
