Lake Gregory Dam Repairs are Finished

From “A Better Lake Gregory” press release:

We are happy to announce that the rehabilitation of the Lake Gregory Dam buttress is now complete. To ensure that the dam meets seismic safety standards, a 40-foot-wide earthen buttress has been added to the downstream side. Residents will notice that the dam, which was commonly overlooked prior to the work, is now more pronounced, with a slope that has been covered with a rock (riprap) layer.

Despite heavy rain this winter, crews from RockForce Construction worked hard to finish the dam improvements within the first quarter of 2019. We are grateful to RockForce for the hard work by their crew and subcontractors, and we appreciate the community’s patience and support throughout this process.

“This is a huge milestone for the Crestline community,” said County Supervisor Janice Rutherford. “The unwavering support of the community has allowed us to successfully rehabilitate the dam, which was the first big step toward creating a better Lake Gregory.”

Crews will begin demobilizing construction equipment used for the dam on April 4. Caltrans requires the transport of equipment to be hauled down Highway 18 between the hours of 10 p.m.-5 a.m.

While the dam completion concludes the primary phase of work for the Lake Gregory Dam Improvement Project, the secondary phase includes road repaving along Lake Drive that is scheduled to begin in mid-April. The portion of Lake Drive on the crest of the dam will remain closed until the repaving is complete.

Stay tuned for a very special invitation to celebrate this achievement with us!

  1. What a waste of time and money and so sad about the ball fields and the campground all because of a document from 1985 in sacramento. California government has gone nuts and we let this happen along w/the company that has run the lake and our community into the ground for financial gain. so sad!
