Kdog’s Road Report 5/18/18

When I crested the hill at the peak of Crestline Heights at 138 X Crest Forest Drive today, I thought that San Bernardino had been abducted. And my first thought was that I was NOT willing to pay any ransom to get it back. But, then, it turned out to just be that a layer of clouds was obscuring the visibility to San Bernardino, so, uhh, sorry about that whole, “I’d never- pay- ransom” thing, San Bernardino folks… I didn’t mean it.

That cloud cover translates to fog once you drive into it. The fog layer is about 1000 feet thick. Around the Crestline Bridge, down to just above Upper Waterman Canyon Road’s exit, the fog is present. It’s not heavy, but it’s not thin, either… it’s a pretty decent “moderate,” which might slow you down just a little. It won’t stop you, and there is no reason to turn on those emergency flashers— as some amateurs I saw today did— but, just be ready for a wee bit o’ fog.

The roads are dry, rocks were not to be found. It’s chilly out there— just under 40 degrees, by my device readings— but not cold enough for ice.

Today is “National May Ray Day.” I am not making this up. This is apparently a real national day, whatever that really means. Most people still have to go to work, and I’m almost certain that nobody is getting paid extra for working on this day. But, check it out, Google it if you do not believe it… it IS National May Ray Day.

I’m not really sure what the day means, though… some sources I’ve found indicate that it’s all about appreciating the sun’s rays… get a tan, absorb a solid dose of vitamin D, whatever. Other sources indicate that the day pays homage to those with the name, “Ray,” and that those people are to be celebrated today.

So, I’m going to go with that. I know a few Rays. My father’s name is Ray… that guy is the greatest man I know. I love my dad.

The editor of this site has TWO Ray’s in his name… so, I’m not sure if he gets double the credit, or credit squared… but here’s to another great man, Mr. Ray Ray. Hip hip hoo- Ray!!!

I only wish that they would designate a more specific holiday. Similar to today’s, but for those few people with two “Rays” in their name, who happen to be homosexual, and enjoy recreational activities with cartilaginous marine life of the flat- and- squarish variety, and are a little, “urban crazy,” perhaps even elderly. Then we could have National May Gay Gray Cray Cray Ray Ray Play- with- a- Stingray Day. Of course, we’d celebrate with a cliché bouquet array… today.

Okay? Yea or Nay?
