Hit and Run Mystery Solved by Law Enforcement

At 8:35 PM on March 11, 2019, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and CHP Running Springs responded to reports of an abandoned vehicle in a ditch near Big Bear City. The reporting party stated the vehicle was located near 1548 E. Big Bear Blvd in Big Bear City.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department arrived on scene first to find the unoccupied SUV in the ditch. While deputies were investigating, a different vehicle stopped at the scene. A male subject in that vehicle claimed that his girlfriend was the driver of the vehicle in the ditch and stated that Auto Club was enroute to recover it.

Traffic was not affected and there was no injuries reported. Heavy snow was present at the time. The California Highway Patrol is investigating this accident.
