High-Altitude Snickerdoodles

Snickerdoodles! Just the name inspires joy. Sugar, spice, and everything nice; these cookies will always bring a smile when they are served. Snickerdoodles are the happy result of when sugar cookies and cinnamon canoodle. These cookies are perfect on a rainy, spring day with a steaming hot cup of tea.

Snickerdoodle Recipe – High Altitude

Ingredients:

½ cup butter – room temperature

1 cup sugar

¼ tsp. baking soda

¼ tsp. cream of tartar

1 large egg

1 tbsp. milk

½ tsp. vanilla

1 ¾ cup flour

For coating:

3 tbsp. granulated sugar

1 ½ tsp. ground cinnamon

Directions:

Use an electric beater or stand mixer to beat the butter until it is creamy. Add the sugar, baking soda, and cream of tartar and beat until the butter and sugar become lighter in color and fluffier.

Beat in the egg, milk, and vanilla until combined. Beat in as much of the flour as will easily combine, then switch to a spoon to stir in the rest.

Cover the dough and chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour.

Preheat oven to 400°.

Combine the sugar and cinnamon for the coating.

Roll the chilled dough into 1-inch balls and roll in the cinnamon/sugar mixture to coat. Line a baking sheet with parchment, then arrange the dough balls, 2 -inches apart. Bake for 7 – 10 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.

Remove from the oven and cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
