VIDEO REPORT: Hey Mountain Comminutes! Introducing, “Ask the CHP!”

Because our mountain roads are so unique, it’s not unusual for mountain specific traffic questions to arise. Sometimes a simple internet search can help while other questions may call for a more comprehensive approach to find the correct answer.

MountainReporter.com is working with the California Highway Patrol and reaching out to our mountain communities to answer those burning questions you might have. Each week, we’ll pick two questions to have answered and we’ll get you that answer straight from our local CHP PIO, based out of the Running Springs office.

Here’s how to ask your question. Simply fill out this form and hit submit! Then watch our website each week to see if your question was chosen. It couldn’t be any easier!

Please enter your email, so we can follow up with you.

Answers will be posted weekly on the Mountain Reporter website in a special features section.

This is just one more way that the CHP is working to accurately inform our mountain drivers and promote safety on our highways.

  1. not a question but a comment. thank you officers for putting yourself out there to protect us.

  2. I have a heavy duty bike rack on the back of my Subaru Forester. It blocks a clear line of site of the license plate if it is in the up position (no bikes) or when it is down and has bikes on it. What should I do with my license plate to make it visible, or does it not matter?

  3. What is the speed limit on hwy 138 between the Crestline bridge and Top Town? There’s no sign posted at all northbound and one south bound that says “End 25mph speed limit”. Thanks

  4. How is it legal for bicyclist to travel Hwy 18 when there isn’t room in the lanes to allow them 3 foot clearance?
