Shrimp cocktail is so refreshing, and it works well as both an appetizer or a light meal. This recipe for cocktail sauce is so quick and easy, you’ll be lounging on your deck enjoying a decadent treat in no time!

Serve this cocktail sauce alongside cooked, chilled shrimp. I always prefer purchasing raw shrimp with the shells on and cleaning and cooking them myself, but I don’t always have that kind of time! You can put out an elegant spread in a snap if you get the pre-cooked, chilled shrimp from the seafood counter of your market. Just be sure that if you do cook your shrimp yourself, you chill them down before serving. While cocktail sauce is definitely yummy with hot seafood, a shrimp cocktail should be served cold.

Shrimp Cocktail Recipe

Ingredients:

¼ cup ketchup

2 tbsp. orange juice

1 tbsp. olive oil

1 ½ tsp. prepared horseradish

¼ tsp. salt

1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper

Directions:

Combine the ketchup, orange juice, olive oil, horseradish, salt, and cayenne pepper in a small bowl and whisk thoroughly to combine.

Alternatively, place the ketchup, orange juice, olive oil, horseradish, salt, and cayenne pepper into a screw-top jar, cover tightly, and shake the ingredients well to combine.

Refrigerate the sauce for at least 10 minutes, then stir or shake once more before serving.
