Fire Crews Extinguish 30 x 30 Spot Fire off Highway 138

At 9:05 p.m., San Bernardino County Fire units were dispatched to a spot fire on highway 138, 1/4 of a mile below Old Mill Road.

Units arrived on scene and found a brush fire approximately 80 yards from the road. Medic engines 25 and 26 used all of their water during the initial attack. Cal Fire used another engine to transfer water to medic engine 26, and shortly thereafter, medic engine 25 went back to Crestline to refill and bring back another tank full of water.

Fire Crews were on scene for approximately an hour and a half doing mop up and checking the thick pine needle forest floor for hot spots. California Highway Patrol was on scene for Traffic Control and US Forest Service fire arrived on the scene as well.

An arson investigator was called to the scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
