Early Morning Accident Snarls Traffic on Highway 18

At 4:24 a.m., on May 22nd 2018, the California Highway Patrol received reports of an accident on Highway 18. The location given was downbound Highway 18 near the four thousand foot level at mile marker 16.

For unknown reasons, a small white vehicle had spun out and crashed. Passing motorists stopped to assist the driver and to advise on coming traffic of the accident scene.

By 5:45 a.m. the roadway was reported as clear.

The California Highway Patrol would like to remind motorists to reduce your speed in the fog and turn your headlights on. Always be ready for obstacles in the roadway and anticipate ahead.
