At 4:04 p.m. on Thursday, the California Highway Patrol received multiple calls reporting a stalled trash truck blocking traffic on Highway 18. The location given was just passed the stoplight going upbound towards Bayliss Park.

Until CHP was able to arrive, traffic was reportedly going into the opposing lanes of traffic to get around the truck. Approximately 20 minutes after dispatch, the first CHP unit arrived on scene and began to divert traffic from Highway 18 on to Highway 189.

By 4:44 p.m. another CHP unit was able to make contact with the trash truck driver who was able to move the stalled trash truck into a turnout. Lanes were cleared at 4:46 p.m. and Highway 18 was reopened.
