Crews Knock Down Summit Fire at Snow Summit Ski Resort

At 2:21 p.m., a 911 caller reported but there was a brush fire burning at Snow Summit Ski Resort in Big Bear.

8 minutes later the first crews arrived on scene and confirmed the reports. Snow Summit staff were digging a line around the fire which was a fully involved tree with a 50 foot X 50 foot ground fire. This evoked a full response from ground and air units.

Units respond that responded included United States Forest Service Fire, CalFire, Big Bear Fire Department with equipment such as water tenders, brush engines and aircraft.

Being referred to as the Summit Fire, ground crews were able to get a hose lay around the fire and it was fully contained by 2:49 p.m.

By 3 p.m. units were reporting that the fire had been knocked down and resources were being released from the scene. U.S. Forest Service Fire remains on scene doing mop up.
