At 10:35 am on Friday, the Big Bear Sheriff’s Department responded to a two vehicle traffic collision on the 43000 block of Colusa Drive in the City of Big Bear Lake.

The units arrived on scene to find a green Chevy Spark which collided with a black Subaru. While the vehicles were stopped in the roadway, a silver Mercedes collided with a silver Yukon which sent the Mercedes into the Chevy spark then into a snow berm. This set off a chain reaction that sent the black Subaru into the Sheriff cruiser sending it sliding down the roadway.

At the same time, a red PT Cruiser came sliding down into a ditch nearby. Crews from Fire Station 282 responded and reported no injuries. With the help of Big Bear Towing, Sheriff Deputies and bystanders were able to clear each car one by one, at one point even lifting the PT cruiser out of the ditch by hand.

The road was closed to all traffic while the cars were cleared. Icy roads appeared to be the cause of the chain reaction crash.
