From a CalTrans Press Release:
SAN BERNARDINO - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) continues with the paving and guardrail project on State Route 18 (SR 18) to mill and overlay pavement and upgrade guardrail on the shoulder. The project is taking place between Lower Waterman Canyon and State Route 138 (SR-138)/Crestline Cutoff. The contractor is working to complete the paving on the upper portion of SR 18 in both directions over the next two months before winter. Pavement work will continue next week on the uphill portion of SR 18 from Upper Waterman Canyon to SR 138 and then proceed downhill on SR 18 to Upper Waterman Canyon. The contractor will then pave the lower portion of the route in both directions. The work hours for the project have been changed to 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday until further notice to expedite paving. The County of San Bernardino County Special District project for Lake Gregory Dam Rehabilitation project will begin next week (for to http://www.abetterlakegregory.org/ for information). Increased truck traffic on SR 18 for the Lake Gregory Dam project and Caltrans paving project will cause extreme delays for motorists during work hours. Motorists are advised that during the paving there will be necessary traffic holds for up to ten minutes to allow the paving trucks to stage in the work zone. The closure limits will be approximately two miles in length and flaggers will be on scene during the traffic breaks. The California Highway Patrol is also assisting Caltrans with traffic control and enhanced enforcement. Motorists and truck traffic are advised that the paving will require reduced lane width. Please slow down and pay close attention while driving through the construction zone. If possible use State Route 330 (SR 330) to avoid delays. All American Asphalt is working on the $17 million project, which is expected to be complete by the end of 2018. Know before you go!
