California Highway Patrol Seeks Information on Hit and Run Driver

At 11:09 a.m. on Saturday morning, California Highway Patrol officers responded to the Alpine Mall in Crestline. CHP officers and the mall maintenance team were assessing damages caused in a hit-and-run accident that occurred Friday evening.

According to statements given at the scene, a lone elderly gentleman driving an unknown model, light tan or gray colored mini van, attempted to drive through the Alpine Mall. The suspect vehicle entered the mall from the Lake Drive side and made it approximately 40 feet into the business complex before causing damages to a planter and a small wall.

An eye witness stated that after hitting the wall he reversed and went forward a number of times causing additional damage. The vehicle then backed out of the Alpine Mall complex and left the scene.

The California Highway Patrol is seeking the public’s help in identifying the driver. Anyone with further information or witness statements can contact Officer C.
