Beloved Local Family Takes Helm at The Oaks Restaurant

Samuel “Sammy Junior” Lupian has assumed the day-to day operation
and management of The Oaks Restaurant in Angelus Oaks.

The Lupian family has long been a fixture of Angelus Oaks, beginning in
1989 when Samuel Lupian Godinez (“Sammy Senior”) moved to town
after Del Morgan, a previous owner of the restaurant, hired him to be
the cook. Sammy Senior and wife Teresa moved into the apartment
building behind the restaurant. “Sammy Jr”, who was born in 1990,
remembers the family inhabiting the entire top floor of the building
until 2001, when Sammy Sr and Teresa bought a house in the village.
Lupian said that he has always dreamed of having his own restaurant.
He began his restaurant career with the Farmer Boys Restaurant chain
when he was 18, eventually becoming an Assistant Manager. He also
learned about food distribution while working with local wholesale food
supplier, Washington Produce.
Lupian said that he and his wife, Elizabeth, decided earlier this year to
purchase the business because, “Every time I came up to visit my
parents and wanted to go enjoy to a nice meal, the restaurant was
closed.”

Lupian said that he plans on “building The Oaks into a restaurant that
people can go to and have a delicious meal at an affordable price, for
the community that I grew up with.” Lupian says that they are in the
process of revamping the old Oaks Restaurant menu. The new menu
will reflect Mexican cuisine from old family recipes, but will still offer
old “favorites”.

The Oaks Restaurant is located at 37676 Highway 38 in Angelus Oaks.
The phone number is (909) 794-2777.
