At 8:17 pm on Saturday, a call was made to 9-1-1 reporting an overturned vehicle with injuries on State Route 330 at the 3,200’ level. Initial reports indicated that a white truck or SUV had overturned.
Arriving units from the California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire Department found a white GMC truck on its roof blocking both the upbound and downbound lanes approximately 2 miles north of Highland Ave. The three adult occupants of the vehicle had already self-extricated, with the driver and one passenger suffering from minor injuries. AMR transported the unidentified parties to a local hospital for treatment.
The truck was traveling downbound on SR 330 when the driver lost control of his vehicle, hit the side of the mountain in a narrow section of the highway, causing it to roll over and slide some distance on its roof in the upbound lanes. No other vehicles were involved.
The road was closed by CHP at Live Oak Dr. in Running Springs and Highland Ave. in Highland until approximately 9:30 PM for crews to clear the wreck.
Although the official cause of the accident is under investigation, CHP Officers on-scene believe alcohol and speed were both a factor in the accident.
