At 6:23 a.m. on 5/26/18, a report of a traffic accident was recieved and dispatched to San Bernardino Police. Details in the original report were sketchy at best. After finding the accident near panorama point, SBPD transferred the call to CHP. This increased the response time for emergency units to arrive on scene.
CHP officers at the scene were repeatedly having to advise motorists to turn their headlights on. Roughly one in five vehicles were running dark in the fog.
CHP arrived on scene at 8:19 a.m. The number one lane (closest to the guardrail) of northbound 18 was blocked just south of Panorama Point. Dons Garage was dispatched from Running Springs and was onscene removing the vehicle by 8:05 a.m.
As of 8:15 a.m., the roadway was clear. The cause of the accident is unknown at this time. There were no injuries reported from this accident.
