On Saturday, August 4th, the town of Running Springs ended their Mountain Top Days celebration with their annual festival. This event occurs the day following the Running Springs Parade, which was held on Friday. The event on Saturday kicked off at 9 a.m. Festivities on this day included a chili cook off, the annual egg toss, and a watermelon eating contest, as well as countless unique vendors and live entertainment.

Every year the fire fighters come and do a bucket brigade for fun with the community; as a bonus, it also serves to clean up the mess left from the egg toss, bicycle race, and watermelon eating contest. Unfortunately, this year the fire department had to run to a call, so they hosed off the mess instead of participating in the annual bucket brigade.
At the watermelon eating contest, kids of all ages competed in consuming as much watermelon as they could. During the bicycle race, adults and children competed on children’s bikes to make it to the finish line, making it for an amusing sight and experience for all. Music played throughout the day, featuring artists like local favorite Adam Hurlbut, filling the evening with exquisite tunes. There were many unique and diverse vendors this year, from food to crafts, and many of these vendors were selling out of their products due to the huge amount of attendees this year.

The Mountain Top Days celebration has been going on for well over 25 years; before it’s current form, it used to be a carnival, but regulations have changed and permits are harder to obtain. This event wouldn’t be possible without all the generous donors and the Chamber of Commerce. Sponsors included Snow Valley, Hilltop Pet Supplies, Golden Oaks Rim Family Services, Pali Mountain, and First Foundation Bank. Mountain Top Days is a fantastic local event for community members and visitors of all ages to enjoy. Not only is it fun, but it also brings the people in the beautiful town of Running Springs together to create memories and bonds with their wonderful neighbors.
