At 5:52 PM on April 5th 2019 multiple calls went into 911 dispatch reporting vehicles hit by falling rocks and debris on Highway 18, just east of Lakeview Point.
According to CHP scanner transcripts, a gray sedan was hit by falling rocks as well as a van in the same area. We reported no injuries.
California Highway Patrol units on scene advised dispatchers that the downbound lanes were completely blocked. The officer requested that CalTrans immediately respond with a front end loader.
CHP units on scene were alternating traffic at the time. Extremely low visibility was also reported in the area at the time due to fog. As of press time, the downbound lanes are still blocked. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution in the area.
