Weather Report – 4/5/19

Courtesy of LakeGregoryWeather.com

Good Morning.
Ahh…nothing like a little extra sleep!
So yesterday along and close to the Rim, a brief shower brought a couple hundredths of an inch of rain. Running Springs also had a little rain measuring .03″, and nothing was reported in Big Bear. Today we will start the day with mostly clear skies except along the Rim where Fog will be in place most of the day. But the clear skies elsewhere won’t last for long. A weak Trough will pass by to our North this morning. We will be on the bottom of this Trough as it passes, bringing increasing Clouds and Fog to the area. This is the first of two weak waves that will pass through our area over the next 24hours. The first one will move through around 2pm with increasing clouds and gusty winds. The next wave is just behind that for around 10pm tonight. The second one looks like it will have better dynamics as it arrives locally. Overnight rain showers will be likely with up to .30″ possible. The snow levels will remain at or above the 7000′ level through Saturday morning.

Saturday after the clouds clear out, a flat Ridge of High pressure will nose into the SoCal area bringing much warmer temperatures through Monday. Monday should see the highest temperatures for the IE and Mountains. Daytime highs in the mountains will be from the mid 60s to mid 70s by Monday while the Inland Valleys will be well into the 80s.

Another change in the weather will arrive beginning late Monday through Friday. Temperatures will begin to cool off Tuesday with more normal temperatures expected for this time of year through the work week. Friday of next week a couple of cold weather systems will work their way down the Coast of California. If this all plans out, we could see snow return to the area by next Friday, and again on Sunday. Snow levels could be as low as 5000′ during that period, or even lower. This is a long way out but my Crystal Ball shows this as a possibility. So there you go.

That’s it for today. Thank you for joining me @ lakegregoryweather.com and a BIG thank you to all who have donated to this website.
Be sure to check out the website for live webcams from around the area along with live weather conditions and a view of Lake Gregory from my weather station at the South side of the lake.
