Lake Gregory Dam Completion Ceremony And Breakfast

On Friday morning of April 26, 2019, there will be a breakfast held with Senator Mike Morrell and Assemblyman Jay Obernolte and others in celebration of the completion of the primary phase of the Lake Gregory Dam Improvement Project. The breakfast is set to take place atop the Lake Gregory Dam at 8:00 a.m. and will be followed by a completion ceremony.

The final phase of repaving the road along Lake Drive is scheduled to begin in mid-April, per the project webpage, which published the following statement.

“We are happy to announce that the rehabilitation of the Lake Gregory Dam buttress is now complete. To ensure that the dam meets seismic safety standards, a 40-foot-wide earthen buttress has been added to the downstream side. Residents will notice that the dam, which was commonly overlooked prior to the work, is now more pronounced, with a slope that has been covered with a rock (riprap) layer.

Despite heavy rain this winter, crews from RockForce Construction worked hard to finish the dam improvements within the first quarter of 2019. We are grateful to RockForce for the hard work by their crew and subcontractors, and we appreciate the community’s patience and support throughout this process.

“This is a huge milestone for the Crestline community,” said County Supervisor Janice Rutherford. “The unwavering support of the community has allowed us to successfully rehabilitate the dam, which was the first big step toward creating a better Lake Gregory.”

While the dam completion concludes the primary phase of work for the Lake Gregory Dam Improvement Project, the secondary phase includes road repaving along Lake Drive that is scheduled to begin in mid-April. The portion of Lake Drive on the crest of the dam will remain closed until the repaving is complete.
