Weather Discussion with Ron Chalfant, LakeGregoryWeather.com

Your Sunday Forecast:

Good Morning.
Don’t forget to set your clocks ahead 1 hour.

…We start the day today with partly cloudy skies, but no fog as of 5am this morning. We have an interesting set up as far as the Weather goes for the next couple of days.
.. A pair of Low pressure areas along the West Coast will bring rain and or snow to the area at times over the next 48hours.
..To our north, an area of Low pressure off of the San Francisco Bay region will move South along the Coast today, remaining offshore and weakening along it’s travels South. This will spin off a couple bands of light rain, or snow at times, depending on your elevation across most of SoCal today and overnight.
..Looking at the GLM GOES17R lightning model, there are areas of convection and lighting mixed in the bands of showers currently off Point Conception, and off of the San Francisco Bay areas as of this morning, this will be worth watching as the day goes on.
..Another area of Low pressure is currently to our West over the Pacific. This Low will move South, then East, eventually joining up with what’s left of the Low currently to our North, tomorrow. As these two meet and move onshore over Northern Baja, wrap around moisture will filter into the IE and San Diego with widespread light rain or snow expected for Monday through Tuesday morning.
..Snow levels will run from 4500-5500′ locally however, there will be some mixing in the atmosphere of warm Tropical air and cold Arctic air aloft. As these two air masses meet, a chance for Thunderstorms will develop adding to the mix. As always, during Thunderstorms heavy rain and or Hail will be possible along with gusty winds, so when the Thunder roars, go indoors. Nice!
.. The estimates are for Big Bear and Green Valley to get the most snow ranging from 3-6″ through the period. Running Springs and Arrowbear can expect from 1-4″, and Lake Arrowhead and Crestline 0-3″. Rainfall amounts or melted snow, will run from .50-1.00″ of moisture through Tuesday afternoon.
..Beginning Wednesday, High pressure and Zonal flow aloft will move over the West. This will bring in warmer air for all of SoCal through the weekend, and as it looks now, through the 21st of March. Spring will be upon us soon and so will those nasty Springtime weather systems.
..That’s it for today. Thank you for joining me @ lakegregoryweather.com
..Have a good Day! RC
