Running Springs, CA

On Thursday night, 911 dispatch received reports of a traffic collision blocking traffic on Highway 18, involving a snow plow and a Ford pickup truck.

According to bystanders at the scene, the snow plow was plowing the highway traveling eastbound. As the plow approached Wilderness Drive, the pickup allegedly failed to negotiate the stop sign and entered the highway in front of the plow. The roadway was covered in snow at the time and the plow hit the truck, pushing it sideways across the highway.

The pickup sustained heavy damage to the entire driver’s side of the vehicle including broken windows. The plow blade on the Caltrans plow truck was damaged as well as some metal bracing and a blown out front tire. Neither vehicle was driveable after the collision.

The California Highway Patrol arrived on scene after the collision and blocked traffic while performing the investigation. Initially Mountain Auto was requested to the scene to tow the vehicle but after waiting over an hour, the officer cancelled then and requested Don’s Towing from Running Springs.

There were no injuries reported and the roadway was clear just before 1:00 am.
