Due to avalanches, rock slides and weather conditions, Caltrans and CHP in cooperation have decided that Highway 38 will remain closed, possibly overnight as they work to mitigate road hazards that would pose a danger to travelers. Angelus Oaks and Forest Falls residents only are being allowed through the closure at the bottom.
Highway 18 from Lucerne Valley to Big Bear remains open however multiple spun out and crashed vehicles may cause travel delays. Chains are recommended, as of press time, chain requirements were set at R2.
