Just after 5:00 pm on Thursday, January 17th, motorists on Mountain Reporter’s Facebook Group, “RimTraffic” began reporting rocks and debris blocking both lanes on 330. The exact location was above Dollar Bill Curve, approximately 2 miles past the City Creek Ranger Station and below the motorcycle park at Manzanita Flats.

Traffic for the next 45 minutes was completely stopped in both directions. Vehicles were turning around in traffic to take alternate routes.

One vehicle was reportedly damaged in the slide, witnesses stated the front bumper took the brunt of the impact.

CalTrans and CHP were trying to make their way to scene amongst the heavy rush hour traffic and commuters began taking Highway 18 as an alternate. By 6:00pm, the roadway was cleared and traffic had started moving again.
