At 8:24 am on Tuesday, emergency crews were dispatched to a traffic collision with possible injuries on Highway 173 at North Bay Road in Lake Arrowhead. The California Highway Patrol (CHP), San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department (SBSO) and San Bernardino County Fire Department (SBcoFD) arrived on scene to find 3 vehicles with moderate damage, one flipped over on its side. All of the occupants were out their vehicles. The Lake Arrowhead Community Services District employees were assisting with traffic control.

According to statements made to the CHP, a bronze Toyota Highlander (Vehicle #1) was traveling eastbound on North Bay Road. A white Toyota Tacoma (Vehicle #2) was traveling northbound on Highway 173 and a t-bone collision occurred with Vehicle #1 in the intersection. The force of the impact flipped Vehicle #1 onto its side and slid into Vehicle #3, a white Toyota 4Runner that was stopped at the stop sign going westbound on North Bay Road.

The driver of Vehicle #1, along with two minors in the vehicle with her, were transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

At the time of the accident, the roads were relatively clean with good visibility, although light snow had been falling. Three tow trucks were called to the scene to clear the wreckage. There was minimal impact to commuters. CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
