WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
Currently as of 4am fog and light rain continue to affect the local area. Temperatures have risen along with the snow levels to around 7000′. Rain will taper off this morning as system #2 moves out of the area. Fog and low clouds will be with us throughout the day as another wet Pacific system will move onshore later today….
…This next system will bring much warmer temperatures with it. Heavy rain will blanket most all of SoCal with rainfall totals expected to run from 2-5″ locally. Orographic lift due to the SW flow will play a big part in the rainfall totals along the South and West slopes where the greatest rainfall totals are expected. Precipital Moisture, (PWAT) levels will peak around 1.00-1.25″ so there will be plenty of available moisture for this system to produce heavy rain at times….
….As the storm moves out Thursday the snow levels will likely drop quickly on the heels of the departing storm. This is when we will have a chance for the areas above the ~6000′ level to see some localized snowfall. Strong gusty winds from 10-30mph are expected with the storm along with the possibility of FLASH FLOODING. The NWS has issued a FLASH FLOOD WARNING effective today through Thursday afternoon. A HIGH WIND WARNING will be likely to be issued later today for the same time period….
…Friday through the next five day we will have a dry period with gusty NE winds and warmer temperatures….
…Flash Flooding, Debris flows, etc will make for poor driving conditions, so plan a little extra time. State and County crews will continue to be on 24hour duty so be aware of their vehicles clearing the roadways. Rainfall totals through Friday morning may exceed 4″ in some locations locally.
Have a great day, and thanks for joining me @ www.lakegregoryweather.com and be sure to check out the website for live webcams from around the area along with live weather conditions and a view of Lake Gregory from my weather station at the South side of lake Gregory.
