Single Vehicle Accident on 18, above Upper Waterman

At 8:31 a.m. on 5/11/18 the California Highway Patrol received a report of a single-vehicle accident on Highway 18. The location was listed as downbound Highway 18 just above upper Waterman. The vehicle involved was a red pickup truck with major front end damage.

CHP units were on scene by 8:33, but there was debris in the roadway for a few hundred yards proceeding where the vehicle stopped. It appeared the vehicle hit the guardrail.

Heavy fog complicated management of the accident scene. Passing vehicles continued to hit debris in the roadway for a few minutes after the accident.

At 8:35 a.m. the CHP dispatched Mountain Auto Service on an expedited response to tow the vehicle and clean up the accident scene.
