Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains:

Good Morning.
Today we should start a cooling trend that will last for the next several days. A Catalina Eddy is forming along the coast that will help to deepen and push the Marine layer Inland beginning tonight. Along with that, a 558mb area of Low pressure that is currently coming onshore to our North, will head South into the interior West. A stationary trough will develop from Idaho to SoCal which will bring much cooler air to the area as well as helping to deepen the Marine layer in SoCal for the weekend.

Clouds and Fog will push up against the local mountains to around the 4000′ to possibly the 5500′ level at times. There will be a good chance for drizzle or even a slight chance for a shower below the 5000′ level over the weekend. Especially Friday night into Saturday morning.

Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 60s to low 70s today, and from the upper 50s to low 60s for Friday and Saturday. Friday afternoon through Saturday morning, gusty winds from 10-30 mph are expected with locally higher gusts in the wind prone areas.

On the long range outlook, another trough is expected along the West Coast for mid week next week. So don’t put away those jackets just yet.

On another note, it looks like Hurricane season is ramping up already. On the long range outlook, a Tropical cyclone is forecast to develop near Cuba heading toward the Gulf Coast region late next week, and another to our South in the Pacific. So as it looks this morning, there is lots of weather to watch in the coming days. This is how it looks this morning. Enjoy the always changing Mountain weather, and have a good day! RC
