VIDEO REPORT: Car Fire on 330 Snarls Traffic During Firefight

At 1:47 pm, the California Highway Patrol received reports of a car fire burning on the 330, halfway up the upper passing lane. Initial reports indicated that traffic was stopped in both directions. The female driver of the vehicle was able to escape the incident without injury. Fire initially was coming from under the vehicle, but by the time fire crews arrived, the entire engine compartment was fully engulfed. The blaze lit the adjacent brush on fire. A small area approximately 6 feet along the outside of the guardrail was quickly extinguished by the firefighters. Both directions on the 330 were stopped for a short time until CHP arrived on scene, at which time, down bound lanes were switched to two way traffic and cars started slowly moving again in both directions. The cause of the fire is still under investigation and no injuries were reported at the time.
