Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.
Good Morning.
Another nice day today with mostly clear skies and light SSW winds. Afternoon winds may become gusty in some areas especially along the ridges and in the canyons. Heightened FIRE DANGER will also be with us through the weekend due to lower humidity and gusty winds as the Monsoonal Moisture slides East and a dryer SW flow develops. There will be a very slight chance for a T/storm over the Big Bear area but most of the activity will be out over the Eastern Deserts of Riverside and San Diego, as it heads to Arizona.
Here we will have very typical weather for this time of year. Daytime highs in the low to mid 80s, with overnight lows cooling slowly to the low to mid 60s except BB,RS, and GVL where overnight temps will be in the 50s. We will see an increase in low clouds and fog into the Valleys and Coastal area through the rest of the week as the SW flow develops. Fog may even reach the bottom of the mountain by Thursday. This is all due to an area of Low pressure that is pushing through in the PAC-NW. Maybe a pattern change? This will keep us a little cooler in the days ahead as the circulation looks like it will bring cooler air to the areas through the week.
As it looks now, a deeper area of low pressure will arrive at the end of the month bringing in cooler weather again and possibly signaling an early end to the Monsoon Season for SoCal. On another note, Hawaii is in the sights of Hurricane Lane. As of this morning’s forecast window, Lane should make Hawaii by Noon our time Thursday possible at a CAT2 or weak CAT3.
