National Night Out in Crestline Brings Community Together

On August 7th, Rim of the World Parks Distirct in conjunction with Woodlands Church, local law enforcement and community organizations hosted Crestline’s National Night Out at the Lake Gregory Education Center on the shores of Lake Gregory.

Hundreds were in attendance as kids enjoyed carnival games, earning tickets for prizes and Crest Forest Station 25 with the SBCFire served free hot dogs to attendees.

California Highway Patrol had a vehicle on display and attendees could try performing a sobriety test using the drunk goggles, a great community outreach for drunk driving awareness.

Sheriff explorers played ball games with the kids and Pastor Daniel Meers with an army of Woodlands Church volunteers were out in force making sure everybody had a great time. Arts and crafts tables were out for kids to enjoy and community leaders like Lewis Murray from Janice Rutherford’s office greeted the public.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August (Texas celebrates on the first Tuesday in October). Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much, much more.
