TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:
Today’s Forecast for Crestline, Twin Peaks, Lake Arrowhead and the San Bernardino Mountains.
Good Morning.
Yesterday while in Big Bear, as expected, the Thunderstorms began to develop around 11am. By Noon we had a little rain and Lightning on the East side by Shay Meadow and Baldwin Lake. As the storm developed, heavy rain poured down on Baldwin Lake with several bolts of Lightning. They ended up with .67″ of rain. To the Southwest above Shay Meadows, we received .01″ of rain. Then, as fast as it developed, it was gone due to a wind shift from the West. This shows just how fast the weather can change in the Big Bear area. For today, mostly clear skies will be the forecast through Monday as building High pressure to our West ensures a Southwest flow that will bring dryer air and no monsoonal influence, for now. Temperatures will be a little more comfortable as humidity percentages lower across the area. However, we may see temperatures increase by a few degrees through the period. Later today over the higher ridges there could be a few cumulus clouds form but there is no chance for a Thunderstorm today through Monday. On the wider scale of things, Hector has become a CAT1 Hurricane in the Eastern Pacific and is expected to become a major Hurricane by Sunday, as he heads out to Sea. There are several potential Hurricanes to the South that are beginning to form so we may see some influence from those in the ten day outlook.
