Daniel Meers, Pastor of the Woodlands Church in Crestline has announced a free VBS program for Kindergarten through 5th grade kids next week. The event will occur on three nights, from Wednesday July 18th through Friday the 20th. It’s happening at the Lake Gregory Education Center on San Moritz Drive, each night starting with check-in at 5:00 pm. Free dinner will be served at 5:30pm and then the fun begins, going all the way to 7:30 pm. Kids can expect to have fun in giant group games in the field including the “Human Pinata”, Minute to Win It game challenges where kids race to complete fun activities in less than a minute. Also included will be a camping themed outdoor event with singing of camping songs and story time with tents in a small amphitheater style setup. Indoor games in the gyms will also provide fun activities for participants as well as crafting activities each night. This event is going onto it’s 4th year, but this year will be the first year at the new facility.
The Woodlands Church started in VOE 10 years ago meeting there before moving to LGE about 30 days ago. They meet weekly on Sunday mornings with other fellowship opportunities taking place at homes around the community. With an average attendance of 100 church goers, the Woodlands Church family has a men’s ministry, women’s ministry and children’s ministry with an incredible drive for supporting community events. Aside from the VBS event, they are also volunteering at Run Through the Pines, National Night Out and other RimRec events. The church also supplied a large number of volunteers for the Crestline Chamber of Commerce, which helped make this year’s Jamboree Days a huge success. Looking forward, Woodland Church will also be helping with RimRec’s Halloween in the Park event, coming in October.
Pastor Daniel Meers started as a Youth Pastor at Community Bible Church in San Bernardino. After becoming the Associate Pastor for a number of years at that church, he was called to the mountain, He began serving as Pastor for the Woodland’s Church when the previous Pastor retired.
