Some Running Springs, CA residents were under MANDATORY EVACUATION ORDERS Today

At approximately 3:10 pm today July 3, 2020, 911 dispatch received calls “reports of fire” off SR 330 between Highland, CA and Running Springs, CA, near off road trail 1n09.


First responders were immediately dispatched to the scene and verified brush on fire. The fire took off quickly heading up the mountain. Several additional agencies were requested to assist in protecting the San Bernardino Mountains and setup for structural defense of buildings, properties, and homes in Running Springs.


SR 330 was CLOSED in both directions for a time. Multiple first responders were having difficulty making their way through the traffic. The Shooting Range was swiftly evacuated.


Multiple Units staged at CHE School to setup Structure Defense plans. A voluntary evacuation was set in place for a neighborhood of Running Springs, South of HWY 18, South of School Road including all areas between Pine Manor and Cobblestone Lane.

This quickly became a MANDATORY EVACUATION. Just as that was set in place another MANDATORY EVACUATION of Keller Peak was ordered.


Engines, Hand Crews, Dozers, Helicopter’s and Air Tankers were all dispatched and worked their amazing skills to get a line put around the fire.
Nighttime Air Attack was ordered. Multiple engines staged at the Walmart near the bottom of SR 330 in Highland.

The fire is currently still active, at approximately 100 acres with zero containment, there is a line of retardant around the fire. They will continue working the fire throughout the night with multiple engines and Fire Fighters to be seen throughout the area.
