Driver escapes injury on Highway 38

On the evening of October 8th at approximately 8:40 PM a solo Vehicle traffic accident occured on Highway 38 just south of Lake Williams. A passerby called 911 and reported a traffic collison with the vehicle sideways blocking upbound lanes. Medic engine 283 Sugarloaf and Medic Ambulance 282 Big Bear City arrived on scene. The driver declined medical treatment and appeared to have no injuries.The blue Kia was traveling upbound Highway 38 and for reasons still unknown the driver lost control hit the side of the mountain with the car coming to rest with tires hanging over the side. Highway 38 was closed for a short period while AND tow recovered the vehicle. California highway patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
