Local Lake Reports

Big Bear Lake:

The bite has slowed down due to warmer weather temps and no recent stock. Anglers have been doing well in the early morning with a small window from 6 a.m. – 10 a.m. when the trout have been most active. The evening bite has been good as well. Anytime after 7 p.m. when the sun starts to go down and the trout start to get active again. North shore from Red House to dam have been productive. Carolina rig with a long 2-4 lb. leader and Berkley micetails, power eggs, nightcrawlers or good old power bait will get the job done.

Green Valley Lake:

The bites going off at GVL. A couple of 8+pounders have been caught recently. Plus Green Valley Lake just stocked another 450 lbs. of rainbow trout from Jess Ranch hatchery on 8/22, 50 lbs. of that being trophy trout. The hot spots have been on both sides of dam and Fisherman’s point. Mini jigs, nightcrawlers and power bait has been the ticket. Early morning or early evening is the best times to fish.

Arrowbear Lake:

No Reports.

Lake Gregory:

No recent trout plants since mid June. The bite has definitely slowed down. If your trying to catch trout. Try to fish deeper or shaded spots. With the warmer weather the trout are going to hold in cooler or more oxygenated water. Carolina rig with a heavier sliding egg sinker and cast out far with Berkley micetails, nightcrawlers or power bait is your best bet. Early morning or early evening is the best times to fish.

Silverwood Lake:

Striper bite has been decent in the early morning from the marina fishing dock or the rocks right outside of it. Garlic nightcrawlers or cut bait will get you bit.
