At 12:20 pm on Saturday afternoon emergency units responded to a suspected hit and run at the 7-11 parking lot in Crestline. Upon reviewing video footage of the parking lot, however, it was discovered that the injured party’s own vehicle had been the cause.

The incident occurred when the injured party, an elderly woman, exited her white SUV at the gas pumps. For currently unknown reasons the vehicle then rolled backward, striking the woman with the door and rolling over her foot. Due to the confusion of the situation, the woman had initially thought that a passing vehicle was to blame.

Fortunately, no major injuries were reported. Though the woman did sustain some minor cuts and bruises, she was able to leave in her own vehicle.

  1. Ford had a problem in the early 1980s with running vehicles jumping into reverse from park. I hope this is not the case. Newer transmissions are computer controlled with solenoid switches for shifting. See if there is recall for your car
