The American Legion Riders Chapter 584 is bringing the thunder to Big Bear Valley on Saturday, August 17th, with their 1st Annual Poker Run. A poker run is an event where motorcyclists ride along a planned route, stopping along the way to collect playing cards at designated checkpoints. The rider with the best hand at the end of the day is the winner. Chapter 584’s Poker Run will be a traditional run, with checkpoints scattered throughout the Big Bear Valley.

The American Legion Chapter 584 was chartered a little more than a year ago. The Chapter helps out their community in a variety of ways; they’ve, “sent a high school student to Boys State 2019, sponsored Big Bear Youth Baseball Umpires and the Pony Baseball All Star Team in the 2019 World Series.” A portion of the proceeds from the Poker Run will go to the Seven stars Foundation Camp, a program  that benefits military families.

The route for the Run ends up at Wyatt’s Saloon, located at the Big Bear Convention Center. The fun doesn’t stop when the ride ends; awards will be presented for the highest and lowest poker hands, as well as a raffle, food, and dancing to the tunes of The Examiners, a local band from Big Bear, who will be playing from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.
