On Friday night at 10:39 p.m., California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire units responded to reports of a single-vehicle accident on Fairway Drive near Thunderbird Drive.

The vehicle, a late-model white Ford F-150, after fishtailing out of control a number of times down Fairway Drive, smashed into a tree and spun out blocking both lanes. According to CHP scanner logs, witnesses reported that the vehicle was traveling at high speeds before the collision. Bystanders at the scene reported that a law enforcement helicopter was circling the accident scene for a short time after the collision.

Residents living nearby stated they had been awoken by sounds of the tires skidding before the accident and other people reported hearing the sound of the collision up to a half mile away.

The vehicle occupant was uninjured. California Highway Patrol units on scene blocked traffic as the roadway was closed for about 45 minutes. Don’s Auto from Running Springs towed the vehicle and the roadway was cleared just before midnight.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.

  1. We live above MPH on Bishorn and we heard it…we thought it was the usual dummies doing donuts in the MPH parking lot on the weekends. Then there was a group of loud kids going up and down our street…not normal for our lovely quiet neighborhood. Wasn’t a peaceful night for sure…
