TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
.. As always, when the Monsoon moves into SoCal things get interesting! Yesterday the Lower Deserts and parts of Big Bear had Lightning and some rain. Shay Meadows reported .48″ of rain yesterday afternoon, Fawnskin had .04, and toward the San Diego area there were reports of up to .64″. There were also a couple of Fires reported on the backside of Big Bear yesterday but I don’t know if they were related to the Lightning.
.. Arrowhead, Running Springs, and Crestline, all missed out on the activities.
..Today we start the day with light rain across all of the Mountain Region. This is from overnight storms to the South and East (Sonoran Desert) of our area that have wound down overnight. We will likely continue to have light showers on and off throughout the day, with a chance for afternoon T-Storms if we get some clearing to provide the heat needed to prompt development of T-Storms.
..Currently, there are lots of clouds moving this way from the Sonoran Desert and Baja California. The PWAT levels are running from 1.25″ over Crestline to 1.50″ over the Big Bear areas and higher out over the Lower Deserts. So there is plenty of moisture in the atmosphere to support more showers today.
..The area of High pressure that has been responsible for the Monsoonal flow will remain over the Four Corners States until Wednesday afternoon. This will keep the moist flow of air into the Region. Then by late afternoon Wednesday, the area of High pressure will begin to shift West cutting off the Monsoonal flow to our area. As the High moves West, we will begin to dry out and see daytime temperatures rise across all of SoCal. By Friday, the High will be situated over SoCal and remain stationary for several days. By midweek next week, the High will retrograde back to the Four Corners Region and the Monsoonal flow will return.
..That’s it for now. Be sure to check on my Facebook page “Lake Gregory Weather Group” for ongoing storm updates including local Radar, as needed. *RC

..On the main page of the website, www.lakegregoryweather.com I have added two live webcam views, one of Lake Gregory pointing North, and the other facing Southeast toward Waterman canyon. These are very helpful for the drive up and down the hill. If the camera view is gray, that means it’s foggy.

..Be sure to check out the other pages on the website for the Latest on El Nino, live webcams from around the area, live Radar, Satellite loops, Traffic conditions, along with live Weather conditions, and a live view of Lake Gregory from my weather station at the South side of the lake.
