Friends of The Big Bear Alpine Zoo, also known as FOBBAZ, is a non-profit support organization for the Big Bear Alpine Zoo. FOBBAZ raises and earns money to help the zoo to buy extra amenities for the animals and for the zoo itself. The Friends Of The Big Bear Alpine Zoo hold a variety of events to raise money for the zoo, such as this wonderful event called the Ice Cream Safari.
The Ice Cream Safari is an annual event that takes place at the Big Bear Alpine Zoo once a year during the summer. During this spectacular family fun event, guests who come to visit the zoo can purchase an additional five-dollar ice cream card. This five-dollar ice cream card allows guest to visit five different ice cream stations around the beautiful zoo and receive five scoops. The ice cream is donated every year by local bushiness owner of the North Pole Fudge Company, located in Big Bear Lake California. All proceeds from this event go directly to the Big Bear Alpine Zoo.
What is unique about FOBBAZ and the Big Bear Alpine Zoo, is that all animals tend to be native to our local mountains. In addition, all of the animals that reside in this zoo are there because they were rescued, injured, orphaned, or confiscated by Fish and Wildlife as illegal pets. This means that every animal at the zoo has some type of mental, physical, or behavioral ailment preventing them from being released back into the wild. In other words, these animals would die if they were to be returned to their natural habitat. The Big Bear Alpine Zoo gives these animals a second chance.
Guests who visit the FOBBAZ table can find information about these animals, become a Friend Of the Big Bear Alpine Zoo themselves, and learn more about their adoption program for the zoo animals. Unfortunately, these adoptions will not allow you to take one of these furry friends home with your, rather it helps support the animals that you chose to “adopt” by giving them extra food, toys, and treats.
Friends Of the Big Bear Alpine Zoo is a wonderful organization that volunteers their time, money and efforts to ensure all the animals at the Big Bear Alpine Zoo are taken care of. It takes a lot of man power and passion to run a unique zoo such as the Big Bear Alpine Zoo, but organizations and animal lovers such as these amazing individuals and their donors keep this beautiful zoo operating.
