California Highway Patrol and CalFire were quick to respond to a vehicle that went over a ravine off of Highway 18 on Tuesday, July 2nd. Witnesses at the scene reported that the Lexus SUV hit some rocks on the mountain side and lost control, falling over 200 feet down a ravine. The passengers sustained no life-threatening injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital. The ages of the group ranged from being in their 70’s, to the eldest being 93 years old.

Traffic quickly built up and was relieved just as quickly as it started. CHP guided drivers safely, while the fire department performed the rescue. A fire crew had to descend down the mountain and use cranked gurneys to hoist up the passengers. No official statement has been available as of yet with further investigation still to come.
