TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
..This morning we have clear skies above the 1500′ level with a fairly thick Marine layer below that in the Valley.
..Today we will begin a warming trend that will last through the middle of next week. An area of high pressure now over central mainland Mexico will expand West in the coming days. This will bring in much warmer temperatures to the Deserts of SoCal as well as the Mountains and most all of SoCal. Currently an area of Low pressure is over the Great Basin which is helping the Marine layer to move Inland this morning to the Coastal Ranges. As the Low moves East later today, High pressure will move into the GB creating an offshore flow locally for Sunday.
..Then the area of High pressure now over Mexico will begin to expand toward SoCal. This is when we will see temperatures begin to increase locally. Sunday will be slightly warmer than today, but Monday is when the heat will kick into gear.
..Monday through Wednesday temperatures will approach the warmest temperatures so far this year. Highs locally will run from the upper 70s to mid 80s in the mountain region.
..One thing of interest is, a compact area of Low pressure is floating around offshore of Northern Baja today and will move through the area late Sunday or Monday. Although it doesn’t seem to have much in the way of moisture associated with it, it could have an influence on Monday’s weather due to the circulation between the two pressure zones. We’ll see. Have a great weekend and enjoy the great mountain weather. *RC

..As temperatures rise in the weeks ahead, take extra precautions with your outdoor friends. Water and shade will be paramount for them soon. Thank you for joining me at lakegregoryweather.com
