Weather Report – 5/20/19

TODAY’S WEATHER DISCUSSION AND FORECAST:

Good Morning.
..Fog can be expected along the Rim this morning along with icy roads. From 1-3″ of snow from Skyforest up on 18 and the 330. Currently snow is all the way to the upper passing lane on the 330, so use caution as the roads will be slippery. Thank you Doug for your morning road report!
..Today we will have some clearing as the Trough that brought rain and snow to the area moves out. A few rain and or snow showers will be possible throughout the day today, but should remain light at best. Gusty winds along with very cool temperatures will be the forecast for the next five days.
..An area of Low pressure will remain pretty much stationary over the Great Basin through the week. Waves of energy, or showers, will spin off of the Low moving through our area on and off through the weekend. The next Trough will arrive Wednesday with another round of showers along with snow to the higher elevations above 6000-6500′. This system will move out on Thursday but the area of Low pressure will remain in place with continued chances for additional showers as more weak waves of energy move across SoCal. Morning Fog will be likely during the morning hours over the next several days as we will continue to have a strong onshore flow. The skies will remain partly cloudy in the upper levels as well, so I don’t see any real sunny or clear days in the near future.
..As of this morning, the Memorial Day Weekend is looking like continued cool weather with slight chances for more rain. However the models are fluctuating as to the weekends weather so I will have more on that as we get closer to the upcoming Holiday. But for now, it looks like a soggy week ahead. Be careful out there and don’t forget to use your headlights so others can see YOU!
..On the main page of the website, www.lakegregoryweather.com I have added two live webcam views, one of Lake Gregory pointing North, and the other facing Southeast toward Waterman canyon. These are very helpful for the drive up and down the hill. If the camera view is gray, that means it’s foggy.
..That’s it for today. Thank you for joining me @ lakegregoryweather.com
..Be sure to check out the other pages on the website for live webcams from around the area, live Radar, Satellite loops, Traffic conditions, along with live Weather conditions, and a live view of Lake Gregory from my weather station at the South side of the lake. Have a good Day! *RC
